Scholarship
Each year, the Toledo Professional Chapter of The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) offers a scholarship opportunity to promising University Juniors and Seniors majoring in the communications field.
This scholarship is named in honor of Lee Z. Steele. Lee Z. Steele is remembered as the highly regarded religion editor of The Blade, with over 40 years of experience in the communications field. She was also a founding member of Toledo AWC and served as the first president of the Toledo Professional Chapter. Lee's dedication to AWC and to helping women achieve high standards in the communications profession spanned a generation and she mentored countless young women in their careers.
Since 1986, the Toledo AWC Chapter has awarded an annual scholarship in Lee Z. Steele's name and to recognize the outstanding students in communications in our area. This year the award is $1000 which will be awarded to one student chosen for their outstanding dedication to the communications field. For more information on the scholarship.
he deadline for consideration for the 2008 Lee Z. Steele scholarship is Friday, October 10th, 2008. A committee of communications professionals will determine scholarship winners. Scholarship winners will be notified by telephone in October. Application for the scholarship.

Scholarship Awards Celebration
This year's scholarship winners will be honored at the 2008 Crystal Awards which will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library - Main Branch, 325 Michigan Street, Toledo, Ohio.
